Kozhikode, May 23  :Even as 11 persons died due to the dreaded Nipah Virus (NiV), altogether 15 patients were still undergoing treatment due to it in different hospitals in this district.

Official sources said out of this, 12 patients are in Kozhikode Medical College (four in wards, two in ICU and six under observation), one in Malabar Institute of Medical Science, one under observation there and another in the the ICU of Baby Memorial Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Kerala government today decided to offer a government job to husband of Lini (31), a staff nurse of Perambra Taluk Hospital in Kozhikode district, who succumbed after contracting Nipah virus while tending affected patients recently.

A Cabinet meet presided over by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also decided to grant Rs ten lakh each to two children of the deceased. Rs five lakh would also be given to next of kin of other persons died in the state.
