Srinagar: Clashes erupted between protesters and government forces at Nowhatta soon after the congregational prayers culminated in Jamia Masjid Srinagar.
Witnesses said that protesters raised slogans after the prayers at Nowhatta Chowk who were chased by forces inside the masjid premises.
The protesters pelted rocks on forces who fired tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesters.
They said that many pellets and tear smoke shells exploded inside the jamia premises injuring at least five worshipers including an aged man.
The clashes were going on when reports last came in.
