Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in downtown area of the Srinagar city on Saturday against what the locals called police highhandedness of Friday.
Scores of people sustained injuries after police fire pellets inside Jamia Masjid soon after the culmination of Friday prayers yesterday.
The area witnesses massive clashes between protesters and government forces during which locals alleged that police used brute forces against the protesters.
The shutdown call had been given by The Jamia Traders Federation against “desecrating” of historic jamia.
All shops and business establishments are closed in Nowhatta, Gojwara, Bohrikadal, Sarafkadal and Khwaja Bazar areas. (Agencies)
