Pahalgam: Lidder Valley Golf Course Labourers Union, Pahalgam stage a protest on Friday demanding regularisation. These daily wagers are maintaining the golf course for the past eight years and are now threatened to replacements.
Lidder Valley Golf Course Labourers Union, Pahalgam said that we are doing all the job of maintenance for said golf course but for the interests of PDA engineers the job is always given to contractors.
The job we are doing for the maintenance of golf course is many times appreciated by Ex-CM Mufti Mohd Syeed assured us of looking into our demand of accommodating us in the Golf Course and promise that all the labours who are working for golf course will be regularise.
However, Pahalgam Development Authority employees have visited us from last 3 days and write our demands for discussing with the higher officials, the union added.
The union further added that we can maintain this golf course more better contractors on half a amount paid to these contractors and requested Chief Minister not engage the contractor for maintenance of this golf course.
The labours of golf course Pahalgam are working from last 10years.we are the son of soil we are fully skilled educated and are having a great experience how to maintain this or any other golf course anywhere, the union added.

“From the past eight years on paltry amount of Rs 6000 to Rs 8000 per-month our skilled and non-skilled staff has been maintaining the golf course despite repeated assurances we are not being employed in the golf course, the government gave a cold shoulder to the recommendation, citing financial implications.” said Arif Ganie a labourer.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pahalgam Development Authority Mushtaq Simnani told that “I have already sent the proposal for creation of jobs for the maintenance of Golf course and i will see how we can go further, no doubt these boys are doing a great job hopefully we will try our best to accommodate these wagers working for long”.
