Srinagar: An officer of PDD namely AEE Farooq Ahmad along with his staff went for distribution of load balance in Eidgah Mohallah of Chijama area of Sopore where they were stoned, police said on Tuesday adding that the incident took place on Monday.
“7-8 persons including some ladies pelted stones on the working staff while they were performing their professional duties,” police said adding “they also looted 200 metres of ACSR wire from the spot”.
“In order to prevent any untoward incident a police party of Watergam reached the spot but the unruly mob hurled stones on them also,” police said.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 62/2018 under section 147, 148, 149, 336, 307, 379 and 353 RPC stands registered against 6 persons including lady Parveen, at Police Station Dangiwacha, police said. (Agencies)
