Srinagar:Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered a case of rash-driving against the CRPF for mowing down a youth during protests in Nowhatta area of Downtown Srinagar yesterday.A case of rioting has also been registered against the protesters.

Quoting SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray, GNS news agency reported that the police has taken cognizance of the incident.

โ€œWe have lodged two cases with regard to the incidents and further investigations have been taken up,โ€ SSP said.

The cases includeโ€” FIR No 18/2018 u/s 307,148,149,152,336,427 RPC and FIR No 19/2018 U/s 279 (rash driving), 337 RPC.

Kaiser Bhat, 21, was ploughed down by the Central Reserve Police Force vehicle in the old city area of Nowhatta during protests on Friday.

Bhat was admitted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), here. He succumbed to critical internal injuries early on Saturday. (Agencies)
