Hyderabad/New Delhi, Jun 15 : Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday and discussed several issues pertaining to the state.
According to sources, Mr Rao sought the Prime Minister’s cooperation for getting amendment to the Presidential Order of 1975 to implement the new zonal system cleared by the state Cabinet last month to ensure 95 per cent reservation for locals in jobs and education.
Mr Rao pleaded for hike in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Paddy and to link Agriculture with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. He also sought the Centre’s approval for the Telangana reservations Act adopted in 2017 increasing reservations for Muslims and Scheduled Tribes.
Among the scores of issues which figured during the discussion between Mr Rao and Mr Modi included division of High Court, allotment of AP Bhavan located in Delhi to Telangana as the building was constructed during the Nizam’s regime and location of a steel plant at Bayyaram.
Prior to meeting with Mr Modi, the Chief Minister held discussions with Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MPs about the issues to be raised during his parleys with the Prime Minister.
He is also slated to attend the meeting of all Chief Ministers convened by the NITI Aayog on June 17.
Mr Rao arrived in the National Capital by a special flight last night. He was accompanied by, among others, adviser to the state government Rajiv Sharma and Chief Secretary S.K.Joshi.
