Monsoon arrives in Gujarat: Heavy rain warning for next 48 hrs

Ahmedabad, Jun 23  : South West Monsoon arrived in Gujarat on Saturday with Valsad, Navsari and Dangs districts recording heavy rainfall, IMD, Ahmedabad, said.
Under the influence of two systems, one stretching from South Gujarat to Kerala and another upper air cyclonic circulation from North Konkan to South Gujarat, the monsoon has made an entry in the state.

Talking to UNI, IMD, Ahmedabad Director Jayant Sarkar said that in the next 48 hours, heavy rainfall is likely in parts of South Gujarat and coastal Saurashtra.
Mr Sarkar said some places received rain in excess of 100 mm.

He said that the heavy rainfall warning for parts of South Gujarat region during next 48 hrs has been issued.
The Met director said that with some advancement of monsoon, parts of South Gujarat would also see rain while north Gujarat would witness light to moderate rain only.

The Met had earlier predicted the arrival of monsoon from next week i.e between June 25 to 27. Prior to that, the arrival of monsoon was predicted even before the normal time of June 15.
Last year, the monsoon had made an early entry on June 12. It recorded over 110 pc rain during monsoon last year.
