Pattan: On the 2nd day of inspection at block Pattan under the aegis of Dr Saleem ur Rahman Director General of Jammu and Kashmir, DHO Baramulla and Dr Masarat Iqbal Block Health authority Pattan checked the clinical establishment of block Pattan and 8 clinical establishments and two hospitals were sealed. 15 clinics were warned that they should make improvement and follow guideline otherwise stringent action within one week.
After a slumber, the authorities on Sunday woke up to the mushrooming of diagnostic centers in the block Pattan by sealing the labs which were operating without the basic registration.
Authorities also issued warning to other diagnostic labs that were found to have lacunae as per the rules laid down for such centers.
A team of health officials raided clinical establishments on Sunday sealed the diagnostic labs that it found were not registered at DHSK.
“These centers were not registered with this department which is a pre-requisite under Clinical Establishment Act,” the officials said.
The team said that other diagnostic centers where the surprise visits were paid, were issued warnings to fulfill the deficiencies pointed out by the inspectors. A deadline of a week has been given to these centers for coming up clean with all the fixed criteria for registration, failing which “action under law’ would be initiated.
While the drive comes as pleasant news to stakeholders who often find themselves in the grip of unregistered diagnostic centers that have often been found employing unqualified people for sophisticated diagnostic tests and charging hefty amounts for these, experts believe that more needs to be done in the direction.
He added that there was also a need to have adequate infrastructure in place at all these centers, vetted uniformly by the DHSK.
Officials in CMO Baramulla said that the ‘surprise checks’ were conducted to ‘streamline the functioning of diagnostic centers & clinic establishments and to curb menace of quackery’. Instructions in this regard had given by DHSK, officials said.
The inspection team was headed by Block Health authority Pattan , Executive Magistrate and Police department deputed by District heath Authority Baramulla.
