Srinagar, Jun 24  Property worth crores of rupees was gutted in a fire incident in downtown Sriangar in the wee hours of Sunday, official sources said.
A fireman and two civilians, including a woman, were suffered burn injuries during fire-fighting operation.
The blaze broke out in a house at Pandan in the downtown city and later spread to nearby homes.
‘We have rushed about 20 fire tenders from different parts of the city, including Fire and Emergency headquarters Batmaloo, the sources said.
The flames were brought under control after struggling for several hours, they said, adding it was still smoldering. Nine houses and other household property were reduced to ashes while another house was partially affected.
The fireman, identified as Naseer Ahmad besides two civilians Tamim Ahmad and Salma Begun, suffered burn injuries in the fire fighting operation.
The cause of fire was being ascertained, they said.  (UNI)
