Srinagar: Authorities on Monday placed Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest and arrested JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik.
Mirwaiz and Malik were scheduled to lead demonstrations against the civilian killings, sources said.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik has called for a protest shutdown against the continuous civilian killings by the government forces.
