New Delhi, June 26 : Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a recent survey which says that India is the most dangerous country for women, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the fact that the country led Afghanistan, Syria and Saudi Arabia in violence and rape against women was a shame.
Taking to social media, Rahul said, ‘while our PM tiptoes around his garden making Yoga videos, India leads Afghanistan, Syria & Saudi Arabia in rape & violence against women. What a shame for our country!’
He also posted on his social media handle a news report which said that a survey by the Thomson Reuters Foundation of 550 experts on women’s issues found India to be the most dangerous nation for sexual violence against women, as well as human trafficking for domestic work, forced labour, forced marriage and sexual slavery, among other reasons.
The report said the survey also found that India was the most dangerous country in the world for cultural traditions that impact women.
India was the fourth most dangerous country for women in the same survey seven years ago.
The Congress has been attacking the Modi government on the spurt in incidents of violence and rape against women.
