Purulia, West Bengal June 28ย  : Former TMC general secretary and BJP leader in West Bengal Mukul Roy on Thursday alleged that Mamata Banerjee regime has utterly failed and it replaced ‘thieves’ leftists to emerge as ‘dacoits’.
“Taratey chailam chor eshe gelo chor (We tried to oust thieves, but what we got is dacoit),” said Mr Roy, a former confidant and a trusted aide of Mamata Banerjee.
Addressing a BJP rally here which will be also graced by BJP chief Amit Shah, Mr Roy said corruption is rampant in the state under Ms Banerjee.
He further said the assets of Ms Banerjee and her relatives have gone up to Rs 1,200 crore recently.
“Besides being corrupt, Mamata Banerjee is also not a democrat,” he said referring to growing incidents of violence against BJP cadres in the state.
The rally is being organised here to pay tributes to three BJP workers Jagannath Tudu, Trilochan Mahato and Dulal Kumar – all three BJP leaders say have been killed by Trinamool. But the charge is denied by Trinamool Congress.
Mr Roy also gave a slogan ‘EBAR Bangla Chalo Paltai’ _ This time Bengal, let us Change Bengal – in tune with party’s successful campaign in Tripura.
BJP chief Amit Shah is in Bengal on a two-day visit since Wednesday.
BJP has set a target of 26 seats out of 42 Lok Sabha seats from West Bengal.
