Kupwara: Government on Thursday ordered a probe into the killing of a youth by army in Trehgam area of this frontier district.

“We have ordered a magisterial probe into the killing of youth,” Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Khalid Jehangir told Kashmir Reader.

The probe, he said will be carried out by additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara and the report will be submitted within a month.

Khalid Ahmad Malik, son of Abdul Gafar Malik of Bun Pora Trehgam was killed on Wednesday evening when army opened fire upon a group of protesters. The killing triggered massive anti-army demonstrations in the area.(Agencies)
