Bhadarwah, 08 Aug :   A person detained for questioning over the low intensity explosion at a Doda school has fled from police custody on Tuesday night, a police official said today.

A police official said two residents of Shiva village of Doda district were detained for questioning and were taken to police post Bhalla.

However, one of the accused, identified as Tanveer Ahmad, escaped from the urinal of the police station. “He came out of the lock-up on the pretext of going to the urinal, but escaped after taking advantage of darkness,” said the official.

“We have launched a manhunt to nab the absconder. An inquiry has been initiated against three police officials of Bhalla Police Post for dereliction of duty,” said a senior police official.

Earlier after questioning more than three dozen villagers of Shiva, the special investigation team of the police detained two persons, including an employee of the school and another villager for questioning.

The principal of the school, Hoshyar Singh was critically injured after a crude explosive device planted under his chair went off on Monday. A non teaching staff member was also injured in the explosion.    (Agencies)
