Srinagar-Jammu, highway closed after heavy rains, resumed later

Qazigund: Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Leh highways were closed on Monday following landslides triggered by heavy rains.

An official said that no vehicle would be allowed on the highway in view of landslides at various places on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

Traffic movement on Srinagar-Leh highway was also suspended after a landslide hit the Sonamarg-Drass stretch near Bajri Nallah area of  Zojla pass.

A traffic department official the landslide hit the stretch today at around 9:30 am, forcing closure of the highway.

A Border Roads Organization (BRO) official said that they were on the job to clear the road.
