A non-local labourer was critically injured in a shootout between militants and the government forces in Hajidarpora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

An official said that militants attacked the army party of 55 RR at 9:45 am when they were conducting census in Hajidarpora village of the district. The fire was returned by the army, leading to a brief exchange of fire, he said.

A police official said that a non-local labourer, identified as Suresh Kumar of Uttar Pradesh, was critically injured in the shootout.

He was shifted to District Hospital Pulwama where from he was referred to Srinagar in critical condition.
