A 40-year old man was crushed to death by a speeding LP Truck at Sangla area of Surankote in Poonch district late last evening.
Reports said that the LP truck (JK02B-2285) hits the man last evening at Sangla village. In the mishap, the man suffered serious injuries and was taken to nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Mohd Rasheed (40) son of Javar Khan of Sangla Surankote. Soon after the mishap, the driver fled from the spot and was caught some distance away after being chased by some bike-borne locals of the area, they said.
The locals who chased the driver alleged that the driver was in an inebriated state, they said.
A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations were taken up. (GNS)
