Srinagar: Unknown gunmen on Saturday shot and killed a Hurriyat activist in Bomai village of north Kashmir’s Sopore, sources said.

Identified as Hakim-ur Rehman Sultani, 45, son of late Mufti Nizamuddin Sultani, a resident of Reshipora Bomai was shot and injured by unidentified gunmen.

He was rushed to Sopore hospital where he was decalred brought dead. Sources said that Hakim was released from incarceration only two weeks before.

He was imprisoned under Public Safety Act (PSA) for his pro-freedom activities. Hakim was affiliated with Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH), sources said.
