Srinagar: National General Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ram Madhav on Sunday slammed former J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah for threatening to boycott Lok Sabha and assembly elections  in the state over Article-35A issue.

“If Farooq Abdullah is objecting to Panchayat polls over 35-A issue, then why did he contest Kargil polls?” Madhav asked.

The senior BJP leader said that the former Chief Minister always played politics and never made efforts to ensure democratic rights of the people.

“Now when Modi Ji is trying to do so, he is speaking against it,” he added.

On Saturday, NC President threatened to boycott Lok Sabha and Assembly polls as well if the government of India (GoI) doesn’t clear its stand on Article 35A and Article 370.
