Srinagar: A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale was felt in parts of Kashmir Valley today.

The tremor with latitude 35.6 degrees north and longitude 76.3 degrees east was felt around 05:15 am today in several parts of the Valley, Director of Disaster Management Aamir Ali said.

However, no reports of loss to property or life were received

The epicentre of the earthquake was located 199 kilometres North of Kargil.

On October 8, 2005, a high intensity earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale hit the Valley and Pakistan administered Kashmir  (Pak) leading to death of a hundred people and causing widespread damage to property.
