Poonch/ Baramulla, Sep 15:ย A 17-year-old girl and her brother were injured due to lightning at Sawjian area of Mandi in Poonch district of Jammu region.

The injured have been identified as Asia daughter Mustaq Ahmed and her 14-year-old brother Nahieem Ahmed of Sawjian Gagrian in Mendhar area of Poonch district. Both were shifted to SDH Mandi.

Reports said that a cow was also killed and two others were injured in theย lightningย incident.

SHO Mandi confirmed the incidentย to GNS and said that sister-brother duo have been hospitalized.

Meanwhile, nearly a hundred sheep were killed after a lightning struck upper reaches of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla districtย on Saturdayevening.

Reports reaching GNS said that the lightning struck Kalgie village in Uri and at least 100 sheep of two families, Nazeer Ahmed Paswal and Mohammad Shareef, were killed.

Station House Officer (SHO) Uri told GNS that a police team has been dispatched to the spot to ascertain the details.

“No human life was lost in the incident.ย  However, we are verifying the exact number of sheep killed in the incident,” he said. (GNS)
