Srinagar: Amid gunfight between holed up militants and government forces in Handwara area of Kupwara district authorities on Thursday ordered closure of educational institutions in many districts across valley.

In view of the gunfight, the district administration Kupwara ordered closure of educational institutions in the district.

The IUST, Awantipora in south Kashmirโ€™s Pulwama district will also remain closed on Thursday โ€œin view of apprehensions,โ€ in-charge PRO IUST, Dr Aijaz Qureshi said.

An official said that district administration Pulwama has ordered closure of all educational institutions in the district for Thursday.

Reports of closure of educational institutions are also coming from north Kashmirโ€™s Bandipora.

Authorities in Baramulla have also closed schools and colleges in the district in view of the gunfight that broke out after a CASO was launched in the frontier district of Kupwara this morning.
