Srinagar: Curfew has been imposed in entire Pulwama town “as a precautionary measure” to prevent protests after a local militant was killed in an encounter earlier in the district.

Official sources said that a joint team of army, SOG and CRPF had laid an ambush following a tip off  about the presence of Zahoor Ahmad Thoker and other militants.

Initially sources said that the government forces believed that Thoker was killed but on recovery of body it has turned that the slain was Shabir Ahmad Dar alias Masoli of Samboora.

Apprehending protests following the killing of the local militant authorities have imposed curfew in the area.

Notably, the third phase of ULB polls is underway in many parts of the city and north Kashmir’s Uri area.
