Srinagar: Clashes erupted in city center Lal Chowk in the late hours on Monday after an Alto car was hit by a CRPF vehicle on Maulana Azad Road near SRTC bus yard here.

Witnesses said that clashes erupted between the people around and CRPF personnel after the family in the private car entered into an argument with the forces personnel. Forces used lathis to disperse the people, witnesses said.

The Alto was hit by CRPF when Mohammed Yasin Khakee along with his family members were driving towards home.ย Police however denied the reports of stone pelting.

Station House Officer, Kothi Bagh Sajad Ahmad while talking to KRย ย said that a minor accident happened at Lalchowk resulting in heavy traffic jam.

โ€œNo clashes erupted during the accident or the traffic jam,โ€ said Sajad.

โ€œThe traffic is now running smoothlyโ€, he added. โ€œWe have taken both the vehicles to police station Kothi Bagh.โ€
