Srinagar: 18-year old youth drowned to death while fishing in a pond constructed by Irrigation department at Chandigam area of Lolab in northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.

The youth identified as Shaheen Ahmad Mir (18) son of Abdul Rashid Mir, is a resident of Chandigam, Lolab.

Shaheen slipped and drowned in the Irrigation storage tank known as Mir Ser (pond) in the locality, they said.

A police officer confirmed the death and said that a case under section 174 CrPC has been registered and further investigations taken up.
