Says ‘Amendment will give rise to horse trading’

Srinagar, Nov 02 (PR): Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) president Ghulam Hassan Mir has described the Amendment of Municipal Act (whereby the elections of Mayors will be through secret ballot) politically motivated. He said this will give rise to the horse trading and it will hamper the credibility of the members.
In a statement issued to KPS, Mir said “State of J&K has reached a place where secret ballot for higher institutions was done away with the intention to avoid cross voting but by this amendment this menace has been encouraged. Governor should have not done this Amendment.”
