Srinagar: Teachers working under centrally sponsored scheme Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) on Monday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar demanding the implementation of benefits of 7th pay commission.

The teachers from various districts assembled here in press enclave under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar E Taleem Teachers Forum (JKRETTF) and raised the slogans against the state government for not giving them the benefits of 7th pay commission.

The protesters holding the placards and banners read โ€œdelink SSA salaryโ€ and โ€œImplement 7th pay commission โ€œ.

Farooq Ahmad Tantray, Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar E Taleem Teachers Forum said that the Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ganai had announced the implementation of the 7th pay commission in September but it was not implemented till date.

โ€œOur main demand is Implementation of 7th pay commission and delinking of SSA salaries from MHRD to State government budget.โ€ Tantray said.

The protesting teachers threatened to go for sit-in protest in Jammu secretariat, if their demands are not fulfilled till 10th December.(KR)
