Srinagar, Dec 9 Fresh firing breaks in the wee hours of Sunday at the encounter site in Srinagar outskirts, where gunfight broke out on Saturday evening, after forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO).
Authorities have suspended internet services in this summer capital as a precautionary measure, to prevent spreading of rumours. Meanwhile, clashes erupted after protestors, mostly youth, tried to break the security cordon and move towards the encounter site.
Official sources said the encounter, which ensued on Saturday evening at Mujgund area in Srinagar outskirts is still on as a militant, believed to be a foreigner, was changing locations and firing at the forces.
‘The militant is giving a tough time to the security forces by constantly changing locations,’ they said.
Last night, it was reported that both the militants present inside the house, which was blasted, were killed.
However, they said when security forces tried to move inside the damaged structure to remove the bodies, the militant again started firing at the forces.
Several security force personnel were injured in the initial exchange of fire on Saturday, the sources added.
