Srinagar: Government forces on Thursday morning defused an IED planted near Garoora village on Bandipora-Srinagar highway in north Kashmir.

An official said that the IED was spotted by a road opening party of Army’s 13 RR unit around 8am.

He said the IED was planted inside an iron container on the roadside.

He said that road opening party of Army’s 13 RR unit and Explosive Detective Dog (ED Dog) detected the suspicious article.

“The IED was later defused by policeโ€™s bomb disposal squad, ” he said.

The traffic movement was halted on Bandipora-Srinagar highway for sometime till the IED was defused
