Srinagar: By not allowing senior and accredited  journalists entry to cover the Republic Day function in Srinagar makes it ample clear that Government is suspicious about every Kashmiri and exhibits the kind of frustration authorities are going through. The incident makes it clear that Journalists are seen with suspicion by authorities .

Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement condemns the role of security personals and civil administration who didn’t allow some senior journalists to enter Bakshi Stadium inspite of valid passes allotted to them by Information Department . This is open violation of Freedom of Expression and Speech and the constitution itself for which Republic Day is celebrated.

“By not permitting  senior scribes to perform their bonafide and professional duty on Jan 26th (Republic Day) is a blot on democracy and constitution of India. This needs to be probed and people who disallowed the journalists to cover the event should be identified and taken to task . If this has happened with bonafide Journalists of J&K ,  one can imagine how would be security forces behaving with ordinary citizens of Kashmir ?  “ said Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat Chairman Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement
