SRINAGAR, JAN 29 : All Jammu and Kashmir Non-Gazetted Forest Officers Association staged a protest demonstration here on Tuesday for their demands.

The protesters demanded the removal of pay anomaly, release of long pending extra dayโ€™s duties. The protesters also demanded the issuance of risk allowances.

Scores of protesting forest guards while chanting slogans assembled outside Forest department Headquarters here in Sheikh Bagh Srinagar to mark their protest.

Association Chairman, Nazir Ahmad Mir said that they are doing their duty even on risky situations and the concerned forest department is playing fools with them by not fulfilling their long pending demands.

He said that they are out on streets on September 11 as it is observed as the โ€œmartyrโ€™s dayโ€ in India for forest guards.

โ€œWe are being deprived of benefits by the administration from more than ten years, as there is no security for us, irony is that we are even provided any risk allowances,โ€ he said.

The protesting forest guards said that they have been asking the department to fulfill their demands through a โ€˜disciplined mannerโ€™ but all that seems to be in โ€œvainโ€.

They โ€œblamedโ€ the heads of the concerned forest department for their โ€œwoesโ€ and for โ€œfailing themโ€ from more than a decade.

The protesters appealed the Governor administration to intervene in the matter and fulfill their โ€œlong pendingโ€ demands.

The protesters threatened that they will not stop their protest till their demands are not fulfilled. They also demand the โ€œformal orderโ€ for their unfulfilled demands.
