Bandipora: A complete shutdown is being observed in Ajas village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district today to mark the 27th death anniversary of those killed in 1992 BSF firing.

Witnesses said all shops are closed while as traffic is thin on the roads.

Four people were killed and 13 others were injured on 1 Feb 1992 after soldiers of BSF opened fire on locals after assembling them in the lawn of Jamia Masjid, where they raised voice against the torture of youth.

Four people according to locals were killed in the firing which included an 18-year-old student, Muhammad Maqbool Rather, Abdul Rashid Ganie, a driver Abdul Rahim Rather, 32, a labourer and Muhammad Sultan Lone, 40, labourer.
