Srinagar, Feb 4:  Health employees working under the National Health Mission on Monday held a protest here demanding here demanding regularisation of their services.

Hundreds of employees including doctors, paramedical staff and technicians of the health department working on contractual basis under the NHM, from different districts of the Valley assembled at Pratap Park in the commercial hub Lal Chowk here and staged a protest in favour of their “genuine” demands.

“We demand job security, financial security, equal pay for equal work and social security benefits,” the protesting employees said.

The protesters shouted slogans against the government and demanded their services be regularized. They warned of intensifying the agitation if the demands are not met.

“We are not interested in hitting the roads again and again but the official apathy is forcing us to resort to do so. There is complete apathy on part of the government,” the protesting employees said.

They said if the government fails to address our grievances, we will be forced to take harsher steps in future the responsibility of which will squarely lie on government,” they said.
