Srinagar, Mar 08 : For the second consecutive week, authorities disallowed the Friday congregational prayers here at historic Jamia Masjid in Old City area of Nowhatta.
Amid restrictions in Srinagar parts, all the four gates of Jamia Masjid were locked by the authorities today, eyewitnesses said.
The head cleric of Jamia Masjid and Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was also placed under house detention and as was barred from leading the Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid.
“For the 2nd consecutive week mandatory Friday Prayers barred at #JamaMasjid Srinagar by the ruling regime. Restrictions Imposed in #ShareKhaas, People caged in homes, leadership either under #HouseArrest or jailed under PSA,” Mirwaiz tweeted. (Agencies)
