Saharanpur, Feb 13 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party MP from Saharanpur along with a Samjwadi Party MLA on Thursday hit out at Union Minister Giriraj Singh over his controversial remarks on Darul Uloom, saying it is an educational institution and had played a significant role during the freedom struggle of India.
Earlier on Monday, Mr Giriraj Singh had said that he will strongly oppose the efforts to make India an Islamic state and further alleged that places like Darul Uloom, which belong to Deoband ideology, are giving rise to terrorists and separatists.
The Union Minister had also said that in the garb of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the opposition parties were misleading the minority community and doing protests at various places. He averred that in these protests, people like Sharjeel Imam were expressing the desire to break India.
