Baramulla, February 26: To acquaint farmers with latest technology and agricultural knowhow, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today flagged off a group of 25 progressive farmers for seven days exposure tour here at dak bungalow.

The tour has been organised under National Mission for Agricultural Extension and Technology (NMAET) during which the farmers shall visit to various agricultural institutions of Himachal Pardesh.

While interacting with the visiting farmers, the DC impressed upon them to learn the latest technologies and replicate it in fields for increasing their production and productivity. He stressed for adopting eco-friendly methodologies in farming sector so that the mission of sustainable agriculture is ensured.

Meanwhile, it was informed that the programme aims at improving the yield of agricultural production besides realising the ambition of doubling the farmers income by 2022. It was further informed that the visiting farmers will interact with the scientists and other agricultural experts to know about various agricultural knowhows including vermicomposting, green houses etc.
