Srinagar, Feb 27 : A moderate intensity earthquake rocked Kashmir valley and newly created Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh on Wednesday night, forcing people to rush out of their houses in panic.

Official sources said that earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale hit Kashmir and Leh on Wednesday night. The tremors were felt at around 2034 hrs and lasted for few seconds on Wednesday.

They said the epicenter of the quake was Ladakh and the depth was about 20 kms. “There was no report of any loss or damage to property,” they said.

This was the second earthquake this month in the region. An earthquake measuring 3.6 struck Ladakh earlier this month though there was no loss to the life or property.
