New Delhi, Mar 13 : Delhi government on Friday temporarily suspended matches of Indian Premier League as well as all other sports in the National Capital in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister in a press conference here said,”To prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Delhi government has ordered the suspension of all sports tournaments including IPL, major seminars and conferences.”
IPL’s 13th edition was scheduled to begin on March 29.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold an crucial meeting in Mumbai on Saturday with the governing council of the IPL to take a final call on the possibility of the annual cricket tournament.
As per sources, the BCCI is also considering conducting the IPL in closed doors (without audience).
IPL team owners want foreign players in the tournament, which seems bit difficult now as the government in its latest advisory has banned all existing visas till April 15.
