Srinagar, Mar 20 : Srinagar Municipal Commissioner (SMC) Gazanfar Ali on Friday appealed citizens of Srinagar city to cooperate with the

department while tackling Corona Virus threat. He also briefed media about the measures taken by his office.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Gazanfar Ali, during a press conference, appealed residents of Srinagar city cooperate with the
Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to jointly tackle the Corona Virus threat.
Pertinently, a 65 year old lady from Khanyar area of Srinagar city tested positive on March 18 after which authorities issued
โ€œprecautionary guidelinesโ€ including suspension of public transport and assembly of people in the district.
SMC Commissioner briefed the media with the arrangements taken by the Corporation. The Commissioner stated that the Corporation has arranged
all required chemicals to be used for sanitization and sterilization and also got some chemicals from Delhi by air.
โ€œThe Corporation has designed special teams to sterilize and sanitize Srinagar City and it is working day and night despite deficiency of manpower. SMC has utilized all its men and machinery for the wellbeing of peopleโ€, he said.
He stated that yesterday SMC organized several meetings with Traders, Bankers, Transporters, Management of Private Hospitals and religious preacher wherein it was unanimously decided that all shops/business establishments except pharmacies, essential commodities and groceries,
will remain closed. Besides this, Fruit Mandi Parimpora and other Vegetable markets shall remain open till 11 A.M. in the morning subject to the precautionary measures to be taken by the traders. (Agencies)
