‘Baramulla man dies of cancer, Covid was additional factor’

Srinagar, May 19: A 54 year old man from North Kashmir died of cancer at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura.

Sources told news agency KNT that a man from Rafiabad Baramulla was admitted in SKIMS for cancer treatment. As per protocol, he was first test for Covid-19 infection and his test was found positive. Shortly after that he was put in isolation ward.

“The cause of this patient’s death was cancer while Covid was additional factor,” Nodal Officer for Coronavirus at SKIMS, Dr Ghulam Hasan Itoo told KNT.

Yesterday, Kashmir reported three deaths due to Covid-19 infection. All the three deceased were from South Kashmir. Two were from Anantnag while one was from Kulgam district.

With these deaths the death toll reached 16 in Jammu and Kashmir. In Kashmir Valley 14 patients have died of Covid-19 infection while 2 died in Jammu.

There are 665 active positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNT)
