Srinagar, Jun 1:Wildlife authorities during the intervening Monday night captured a wild bear from Chogal area of north-Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A wildlife department official while talking to GNS told that the bear was captured during the intervening night of Monday by a team at Harwan, Maidan Chogal.

“We had been receiving frequent calls from the residents regarding the roaming about of the beast in the area”, adding, “as such a trap was laid to capture the beast.”

“After many efforts, the beast was successfully captured around 3 a.m”, the official said.

Meanwhile, residents from the area said that the bear was active for last ten days now and had caused severe damage to the standing crops and livestock. (GNS)
