Kulgam, July 2: The Ikhwani turned policeman who was shot dead by militants on Wednesday evening was laid to rest today at his native Furrah village of South Kashmirโ€™s Kulgam district.

Police Follower Abdul Rashid Dar alias Khursheed Alam was killed by militants outside his house yesterday late evening. Though he was shifted to GMC Anantnag after sustaining bullet injuries, doctors declared him brought dead.

Local sources told news agency KNT that over 400 people participated in his last rites. He was laid to rest in local graveyard.

The deceased had joined banned Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front in 1990โ€™s and then switched to โ€˜Ikhwanโ€™- a dreaded organization created by government. He was known by the name of Khurshid Alam when he joined Ikhwan. Local sources said that after joining Ikhwan, he was attacked by militants in 1995 while staying along with his family in a building guarded by soldiers. In that attack, his infant son sustained bullet injuries and subsequently died.

โ€œHe was a changed man now, so humble and gentleman. In his locality he was known as โ€˜Rasha Lalโ€™, said a local. (KNT)
