Kupwara, Aug 7: A soldier slipped into a gorge here in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district and subsequently died in the hospital.
The soldier has been identified as Amir Hussain Wani of 56 Rashtriya Rifles.
A police official told news agency KNT that proceedings under 174 CrPc have been initiated at police post Machil.
He said that an officer from 56RR reported at police post Machil that soldier Amir Hussain (9116484X), who was deployed for animal transport duty at Katwara suddenly slipped into the Katwar Nar Nallah and felt unconscious.
“The said soldier was shifted to 56 RR Camp Katwara for treatment, where doctors declared him dead,” he said. (KNT)
