Srinagar, Dec 20 : Police on Sunday claimed to have recovered two packets of Heroin-like substance at Dachi area in Uri of north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A statement issued to GNS reads that “In furtherance to our continuous efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Uri Police recovered contraband from Dachi during a routine naka established in front of BOP Dachi.”

“At around 1100 hrs during the routine check-up of vehicles a Sumo vehicle bearing Registration no JK-05D 6531 was stopped and the passengers frisked, the statement maintains adding that in the meantime two packets of Heroin-like substance were recovered from possession of two persons on-board to the vehicle.”

Identifying the duo as Irfan Ahmad Mir son of Habibullah Mir and Irshad Ahmed Pood son of Mohammad Sharif Pood residents of Nambla (C) Uri, the statement further reads that a case under FIR number 174 /20 under sections 8/ 21 & 29 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Uri.

Both the accused have been arrested and due investigations taken up in this regard, the statement reads.(GNS)
