Srinagar, Jan 12,: The residents of several areas of Kralkhud area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Tuesday staged a protest against the power development department for the shortage of electricity in their localities.

Eyewitness told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that, dozens of residents mostly women from Naisadak Kralkhud and other areas on Tuesday took into the streets and staged protest against the non availability of electricity in their area, blocked the road at Kralkhud and disrupted the traffic movement for hours.

Protesters blamed that their area is facing acute shortage of electricity in their area for a long time and the PDD officials are not taking any action to provide relief to the common masses.

“We are facing hardships due to non availability of electricity for a long time, we contact higher officials of the department so many times in past but they yet not solve our problem after score of promises, now we staged protest and appealed officials of the department to resolve our genuine issue” Nigeena Bano a local protester said.

She said that if the department will not solve their problem they will again stage a protest and officials of the concerned department will be responsible. (KDC)
