Srinagar, Apr 11: Two persons have died after a travel-utility-vehicle (TUV) they were travelling in rolled down into a deep gorge near Meghdar area of Ramban district in Jammu division.

An official told Srinagar-based news agency Global News Service (GNS) that a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number JK-19 7840 driven by one Manpreet Singh a resident of Bhajmasta of Ramban rolled down a hill into a approximately five metre gorge near Meghdar area.

In the incident, the driver besides another on-board passenger identified as Randhir Singh son of Prithvi Singh, a resident of Bhajmasta of Ramban died on the spot.

The deceased duo has been retrieved and shifted to District Hospital Ramban for medico-legal formalities, following to which they will be handed over to families for last rites, the official added.

Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat-Ul Islam @dcramban while expressing his sorrow on the tragic incident, tweeted ‘Sad news. Two persons died when the vehicle (Bolero) they were travelling in rolled down a hill near Meghdhar. Both the dead bodies shifted to DH Ramban for postmortem. Mortal remains shall be handed over to the bereaved families (sic.)”. (GNS)
