Srinagar, Oct 28: One militant was killed after army and police “retaliated an attack” in Cherdari area of Baramulla in north Kashmir, police said.

“During the intervening night of 27-28/10/2021, (militants) fired upon Area Domination Patrol party (ADP) of Police and (army’s) 46RR in Cherdari area of Baramulla. Alert joint party retaliated effectively and in brief shootout one (militant) got killed,” a police spokesman said. He identified the killed militant as Javed Ahmad Wani of Kulgam.

“As per police records, the killed (militant) was a part of group involved in killing of two non-locals in Wanpoh area of Kulgam along with the (militant) Gulzar who was neutralised on 20 October 2021,” he said, adding, “Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 01 pistol, 01 loaded magazine & 01 Pak branded grenade was recovered from the killed terrorist’s possession.”

On the basis of preliminary investigation, IGP Kashmir said that the killed militant was hybrid-type and was on mission to target one shopkeeper in Baramulla.

“Police has registered a case in this regard and further investigation is going on.”
