Srinagar, Feb 15: Anti Corruption Bureau arrested a Junior Engineer after a trap for accepting bribes in North Kashmirโ€™s Kupwara district.

ACB received a complaint about Ghulam Hassan, Junior Engineer of Rural Development Department, Block Tregham, District Kupwara demanding a bribe of Rs 8000 for preparing Bill for the work executed by the complainant under MGNREGA.

The complainant alleged that the accused JE was adopting delaying tactics and not preparing a bill for the work executed by the complainant under MGNREGA and 14th FC at village Kunanposhpura, Block Tregham, District Kupwara. The said Junior Engineer was demanding a bribe of Rs 8000 from the complainant as his commission.

Upon receiving the instant complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections and a trap team was constituted. The trap team caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 8000 from the complainant. He was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team. The bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses. (KNT)
