Rajouri, Feb 19 A protest was held in Rajouri town on Saturday morning after family members and relatives of a casual labour of Power Development Department (PDD) hit the roads against the government for ‘failing’ to provide medical assistance to the victim.

The casual laborer identified as Mohammad Saleem of Thudi Jawahar Nagar in Rajouri was repairing High Tension power wires in lower Jawahar Nagar on January 24 when he received strong electric shock and suffered severe burn injuries.

The casual labour is still under treatment in a hospital outside Jammu and Kashmir while both his upper limbs have been amputated.

According to the news agencyโ€”Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the protesting family members said that the official is under treatment in hospital since long but no much help has been provided by the Government and entire expenditure of the treatment has been bore by family members so far.

The protesters blocked Jawahar Nagar to Khandli bridge road of Rajouri town and halted the movement of traffic.

They also raised slogans against government for leaving the casual labourers, daily wagers and need base workers of power development department to suffer and accused the government for leaving the lives of daily wagers on God’s mercy.

Later, Tehsildar Rajouri and Station House Officer Rajouri reached on the spot and pacified the protest after which a delegation of protesters has been taken to meet the district administrationโ€”(KNO)
